Most major bus lines that connect the capital cities, pass through Griffith.

Griffith is the newest city in Australia, having reached that status in the bicentennial year.

It has a population of about 25 000 and is a strong irrigation area and agricultural district with both dry and wet land farming prominent. Griffith is one of the leading grape growing and wine production areas in NSW. It is also well known for the production of citrus fruits.

Griffith is the regional and business centre for the many small farming communities that surround the town.

There are a variety of sporting facilities in the town with four (4) gymnasiums, an indoor and outdoor pool, athletics track, rugby league and rugby union grounds, touch football and cricket grounds.

Water sports are also very popular in Griffith with Lake Wyangan being a popular location for water skiing.

Griffith is situated 450 kilometres north of Melbourne and approximately 500 kilometres west of Sydney. A regular air service connects Griffith to Sydney with two flights regularly per day and some days, three and in July 2007 direct flights between Griffith & Melbourne were introduced.
