Griffith played in the South West District Football League from 1947 to 1981 winning Premierships in 1952 and 1968 but in the 60‘s and early 70‘s appeared in 7 Grand Finals in 9 consecutive years and won one!!

In 1982 the R.F.L. was formed and Griffith, whilst competitive was not able to win a Premiership, although they appeared in the 1991 Grand Final and lost to Ganmain Grong Grong Matong.  They had to wait another 11 years until 2002 to make a Grand Final but they did and whilst red hot favourites, unfortunately fell at the last hurdle.  2003, however was THEIR year and they atoned for the 2002 defeat by winning convincingly.

In 2004 under the new leadership of coach Adrian Burns, the Swans again competed in the Grand Final but were defeated by a much better side in Ganmain Grong-Grong Matong – our nemisis of the ‘60’s and 1990!   2005 saw the seniors go out in the Elimination Final and Adrian Burns was replaced by Luke McLean.

2006 against all odds the team went out in the Preliminary Final to near neighbours and arch rivals, Leeton/Whitton Crows.

2007 was not a good year as with the departure of several key players the team did not make the finals.   In a shock move, Luke Mclean who had been appointed at the beginning of 2006 for a further two years, advised the committee that he would be leaving and going to Launceston so his fiancée could be closer to her family following the birth of their son.  Four days later it was announced in the Launceston press that he would be coaching Launceston in 2008.
